Job Centre Plus referred Papy onto an Antrec CSCS Construction Skills course at the Construction Hub project that we run with Galliford Try Partnerships in Liverpool.
Before this Papy was not working. Papy moved to the UK from the Congo 14 years ago (in 2005). He has previously worked at a recycling centre and at B&M Bargains and did have some construction experience. Papy has a young family – he was keen to get back into work to be able to support them.
Papy attended the construction training programme with Antrec which allowed him to gain his Health and Safety qualifications and CSCS card. He then completed work experience on site with Galliford Try. Throughout this work experience he shined and gained the confidence to apply for a position with them as a general labourer and he was successful!
“Papy is a real credit to himself. He is hardworking and will undertake any task given. We are really pleased that he is on the team”. Julie Ferns – Galliford Try.
