Our Apprentices

Here is a little case study about our two apprentices Lucy and Olivia, each started out on a Business Admin framework but have branched out into Compliance and assisting the tutor team.

Lucy Gavin

lucy antrec apprenticesLucy completed a yearlong apprenticeship in Business Admin in February 2016 and is now a full-time member of staff working as a Compliance Officer.

Lucy first heard about a vacancy at Antrec when a member of Lucy’s family seen an advert for an apprenticeship. The first step of the process involved Lucy sending her CV into Antrec to be reviewed, Lucy was then shortlisted for interview. After impressing on interview Lucy was offered the chance to have a 2-week trial to see if she was suitable for the job role and apprenticeship.

In October 2014 Lucy started her full-time apprenticeship supporting the Caseload and Operations team. This involved helping the team with funding paperwork, arranging open days and supporting with the overall learner process. During Lucy’s first year with Antrec she also spent some time on the front desk, this meant dealing with initial enquiries over telephone and email, taking payments for commercial courses and performing general admin duties. One major positive of Lucy’s apprenticeship was that she got a real feel for the company by spending time within each department, Lucy felt she was learning key skills whilst also earning a wage. The yearlong apprenticeship helped Lucy develop skills which enabled her to secure employment.

In November 2015 Lucy was offered a job within the Antrec Compliance team, Compliance play a key role within Antrec making sure paperwork is completed accurately and to the requirements of our prime providers. Lucy is now a full-time Compliance Officer thanks to completing her apprenticeship in Business Admin.

Olivia Bates

Olivia Antrec apprenticesOlivia started her apprenticeship with Antrec in November 2015, she is currently working on the front desk in an admin support role.

Olivia first heard about Antrec when attending her local Job Centre Plus, at the time the job centre was running a Social Care Awareness month and Olivia was interested in starting a career within care. Our Lead Caseload Manager Annmarie attended the job centre on the day Olivia visited, she signed up to attend an open day being held at the Antrec offices the following week. Unfortunately, when Olivia turned up for the open day it was found that Olivia wasn’t eligible for funding due to her age. As Olivia, had made such a good impression with Annmarie she was called back in to have a chat and was offered the opportunity of completing a Business Admin apprenticeship with Antrec.

After completing a short trial within the Antrec head office Olivia started her apprenticeship. Olivia now plays key role as a Front Desk Administrator her duties include taking course enquiries over telephone/email, providing learners with all the key information needed to start a course and various other admin duties that are required in the running of a busy office. Olivia has also had experience within a Learning Support role, helping learners who need a bit more assistance or who suffer from a disability.

Olivia is now nearing the end of her apprenticeship and will shortly decide what area of the business her final assessment will be in. Olivia has thoroughly enjoyed her year with Antrec and is looking forward too many more.
