MP Visits Thriving Bootle Businesses (That’s us!)

A local Bootle business is having a big impact on the Sefton job market helping thousands of unemployed people to develop vital work skills and get matched to job vacancies.

Recently Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Labour Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills, along with Peter Dowd MP for Bootle and representatives from Sefton Council’s Invest Sefton team visited Bootle business Antrec Limited located at the Investment Centre on Stanley Road.

The independent organisation specialises in training for unemployed people to work in hospitality, adult social caretaxis or call centres and has experienced significant growth since it started in 2011 creating 23 full time jobs, and working with 36 job centres across Merseyside.

InvestSefton has provided business support under the European Funded Business Growth Programme – helping them to identify training and commercial opportunities.

Antrec have also designed and created an award-winning Service Enterprise Awareness Training course, accredited by NFCE, which has 12 modules and links to the adult social care sector, with units on mental health, special needs and autism.

Nicola Lee said “We have a great team, and our business is growing fast. We work with businesses across the city region, helping them to upskill their workforce. InvestSefton has been very supportive, and I’d encourage other businesses with growth aims to tap into the support available.”

Cllr Marion Atkinson, said: “I was delighted to see how Antrec’s specialist training schemes have helped so many local people get back into work. This meets the council’s own ambitions for growth and I’m delighted we have been able to assist them through InvestSefton.”

Peter Dowd, MP for Bootle, added: “This is an impressive company that is making a huge difference to thousands of people in Sefton – providing opportunities to develop and learn new skills that prepare the learner for the job market – breaking the cycle of unemployment.”
