Antrec Apprenticeships

There are a couple of different levels of apprenticeships you can start at, this will depend on the skills you possess and any experience that you may have.

Apprenticeship programmes are vocational, they usually span over the course of 12 months but can last up to 4 years depending on the level of qualification. Throughout your apprentice training you learn on the job whilst earning a wage and are open to those aged 16 or over. One of the major positives of the apprenticeship pathway is the career progression that is on offer, you have a real opportunity to build and grow with the company.

  • That you earn a salary from the start of the programme whilst learning.
  • You receive experience within the workplace.
  • At the end of the programme you come out with a recognised qualification.

Working toward a qualification whilst on a programme such as an apprenticeship allows you to hone your skills and learn how to work to high industry standards. Each task is a new challenge which means you will constantly have to prove yourself whilst building knowledge.

  • You should be studying for an extra 20% of your working hours whilst not in work.
  • A member of the Antrec team will attend appointments at your workplace to see how your progress is going and also to offer any further support. We will also set goals which you need to work toward and achieve.
  • Feedback is important – you should ask management or the head of your department for feedback on the things you are doing well but also the things that you need to work on.

The minimum wage for an apprenticeship starts from £3.70 per hour, this is set by the government. You can expect to be paid the minimum wage by most employers however there are many employers who top up this wage and offer a higher hourly rate.

The apprentice minimum wage applies to those aged 16 to 18, those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. Upon turning 19 if you have completed the first year of your apprenticeship your employer must pay you at least the full national minimum wage rate for those aged 18 to 20.
