Margaret Traynor #GoodNewsStory

Our latest Good News Story looks at Margaret Traynor who recently completed a Hospitality course linked to Hard Days Night Hotel based in Liverpool city centre.

Margaret Traynor - Good News Story - Antrec Hospitality training linked with Hard Days Night Hotel.

Margaret was enrolled onto our Hospitality course that had guaranteed interviews with our employer partner, The Hard Day’s Night hotel based in Liverpool city centre. During the course Margaret gained two accredited qualifications in Occupational Studies in the Workplace and Wellbeing. Margaret had not worked for 6 years and her confidence was low and she felt that her age was going against her but during the course she began to build her confidence and with the support of the tutor and caseload manager she started to believe that she could gain employment following the course.

As with all learners that come through Antrec, Margaret was prepped for the interview with The Hard Day’s Night including taking part in a mock interview with her Caseload manager and she felt confident, albeit a bit nervous going into her interview with the employer. The feedback from the HR manager was that Margaret came across very well and she would be starting a trial shift the following weekend. Margaret was thrilled. Unfortunately, her trial shift with Hard Days Night did not go so well and she was not taken forward for one of the positions that they had available.

Her caseload manager assured her that it was not the end of the world and that there were still plenty of opportunities for her to apply and if she continued to attend appointments then Antrec Limited would find her an opportunity for employment. Margaret did not let the rejection from the Hard Days Night get her down and she continued to attend caseload manager sessions and apply for several jobs.

Antrec Limited work in partnership with several agencies and organisations, a key one being Jobcentre Plus and we were informed of interviews being available for a new The Works bookstore that will be opening soon in the Edge Lane Retail Park development. We put Margaret forward and utilising the skills she learned during the course and the techniques from the mock interviews, Margaret was successful and will start work again soon.

Margaret had this to say about Antrec:

“I found Antrec to be very supportive while on the course and after, they gave me a lot of help in gaining employment”

We wish Margaret all the best in the coming weeks in her new position and we will still be available for help and advice if needed.
