Karen has many years’ experience teaching in inner City Colleges and for training providers. She has a passion for teaching and a commitment to provide the best opportunities for each learner based on their individual needs. Karen teaches on the Well-Being and Occupational studies course which is delivered here at Antrec. She provides guidance and support for those who come on to the course helping them to achieve a recognised level 1 Certificate.
Karen also works with Apprentices on and off site ensuring that they get the best possible training to achieve their qualification at the end of their Apprenticeship. Karen works with people who are in employment but may not have any formal qualifications. Not all Apprentices are in the 16-19-year-old bracket; in fact, many people 19 years and older find Apprenticeships suit them as it is a work based qualification. Karen meets with her Apprentice learners usually once a month to plan future assessments, teach underpinning knowledge and give guidance and support. If a learner does not have the required level of English, Maths or ICT then this is embedded into the Apprenticeship programme. Karen works closely with Michelle Dunn our specialist functional skills tutor to support learners in achieving their qualification.
